Treatment
Head lice treatment at home
One visit, in your own living room. We section the hair, comb out every louse and nit with stainless-steel combs — no pesticides — and come back within ten days to confirm it worked. Same-day appointments are usually available across the five boroughs.

Same-day visits are usually available — call (347) 901-5247 and we can often be there today.
Our method
How the comb-out method works
There is no shortcut that actually works. We section the hair, draw a fine stainless-steel comb through it under good light, and keep going until every section comes back clean. It is slower than a spray — and it is why we rarely need a second visit.
Why we skip the chemicals
Many lice are now resistant to the pesticides in over-the-counter shampoos, and no shampoo removes the eggs. Combing takes out both lice and nits, so there is nothing left to hatch — and nothing harsh on your child’s scalp or in your apartment’s air.
Gentle enough for
- Babies and toddlers
- Parents who are pregnant or nursing
- Kids with asthma, allergies, or eczema
- Anyone with a sensitive scalp

What we bring
Your specialist arrives with the full kit — you only need a chair near a window and something to keep your kid occupied. A book or a show both work.
- Stainless-steel nit combs
- A bright portable lamp and magnification
- Conditioner for sectioning and detangling
- Clips, towels, and everything else the job needs
We have worked this way since 2020 — more than five hundred families across the city, one comb pass at a time.
What to expect
How a treatment visit unfolds
Most families book in the morning and are done well before dinner. Here is the whole thing, start to finish.
You call, we talk it through
Tell us what you've found, who's itching, and how many people are at home. We'll answer your questions and find a time — often the same day.
About ten minutes
Head checks for the whole household
Your specialist sets up near a window or a good lamp and checks everyone, working through the hair behind the ears and along the neckline, where lice settle first. You'll know exactly who has an active case and who is clear.
Fifteen to twenty minutes per person
The comb-out
For each person with lice, we dampen the hair with conditioner, divide it into small sections, and draw a stainless-steel comb through each one until it comes back clean. Kids can read, watch a show, or eat dinner while we work.
Usually one to two hours, depending on hair length and thickness
A realistic plan for your home
Before we leave, we walk through what actually needs doing: a hot wash for bedding and recently worn clothes, a few days in a sealed bag for anything that can't be washed, and a pass with the vacuum where heads rest. It's less work than the internet makes it sound.
About fifteen minutes
The recheck
We come back, comb through again at no charge, and confirm everyone is still clear. If we find anything, we treat again at no cost. You'll have documentation for school in the meantime.
A follow-up visit within ten days, included
All told, plan on two to four hours for a typical family — longer if several people need the full comb-out. We would rather take the extra half hour than treat twice.
Your options
Three ways to deal with lice
Drugstore kits and lice salons both work for some families. Here is how a home visit differs, so you can decide what fits yours.
| Comparison point | Drugstore kit | Lice salon | Our home visit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where it happens | Your bathroom | Their storefront | Your living room |
| Who does the combing | You do | A technician | A trained specialist |
| Pesticide-free | Depends on the kit | Usually | Yes |
| Whole household checked | If you have the patience | Whoever you bring in | Everyone, in one visit |
| Free recheck included | No | Varies | Yes |
| Documentation for school | No | Sometimes | Yes |
If you have already tried a drugstore kit and are still finding live lice a week later, you are in good company — that is the most common call we get.
Our commitments
What we stand behind
No fine print. These are the same terms every family gets.
If lice come back, so do we
Every treatment includes a recheck within ten days at no charge. If we find anything then, we treat again — also at no charge.
No pesticides, ever
Combs, conditioner, and patience. Nothing we use is a concern for infants, for parents who are pregnant or nursing, or for kids with asthma or eczema.
There when you need us
Same-day visits are usually available, and we can often be at your door within a couple of hours of your call.
Paperwork schools accept
We leave you with documentation for the return to school or camp, and we're glad to speak with the school nurse directly if a question comes up.
Not sure whether what you found is lice? Call and describe it — we’ll tell you honestly, including when you don’t need a visit.
From our families
What parents tell us afterward
They came the same evening I called, checked all three kids, and only one needed treatment. No lecture, no upsell — just calm, clear help.
Our school sent my son home on a Friday. By Saturday morning he'd been treated, with paperwork the nurse accepted on Monday.
I'd already tried two drugstore kits before giving up and calling. One visit and the follow-up recheck, and we've been clear since.
Pricing
What a visit costs
Cost depends on how many people need checking or treatment and how long the hair is, so we quote before we book. The number we give you on the phone is the number you pay — no add-ons at the door.

Beyond treatment
If you’re at a different point
Treatment is the middle of the story. If you’re still not sure it’s lice, or you’re trying to keep it from coming back, start here instead.
Lice checks
Not sure it's lice? A check is quicker and less expensive than a treatment. We'll look carefully, tell you plainly, and only treat if there's something to treat.

For schools and daycares handling a classroom case. We screen on site and provide the documentation administrators need.
Learn morePrevention
Once you're clear, a few habits keep it that way — a quick weekly check, hair tied up at school, and knowing what's actually worth washing.

We treat at home in all five boroughs. Each borough page covers the neighborhoods we visit and how scheduling works there.
If today’s the day
If the school just called or you found something this morning, you don’t need to read any further. Call us, tell us what happened, and we can usually have someone with you the same day.
Get in touch
Request a visit
Tell us a little about what's going on. During business hours we usually call back within fifteen minutes, and most visits can be scheduled for the same day.
