Head lice checks
Professional head checks at home
A calm, careful look through the hair under good light — so you know for sure instead of guessing. Same-day visits are usually available across the five boroughs, and we provide documentation schools accept.

Same-day visits are usually available — call (347) 901-5247 and we can often be there today.
Early detection
Why it pays to check early
A check takes fifteen to thirty minutes and settles the question either way. Timing matters more than most parents expect.
Itching is a late sign
Most kids don't itch for the first week or two. A check after a classroom notice or a sleepover can catch lice while there are still only a few.
Small cases are simple cases
Caught early, lice often means a single comb-out session. Left to grow for a month, it can mean treating the whole household.
It stays with one person
Lice move between people who share beds, couches, and hairbrushes. Finding the first case early usually keeps it the only case.
You get it in writing
If the school asks, we provide documentation schools accept — a clear note saying who was checked and what we found.
How it works
What a head check looks like
No machines, no products — good light, a fine metal comb, and someone who has done this many times before.
A short call
Tell us what prompted the check — a school notice, an itchy scalp, a sleepover. We'll ask a few questions and usually offer a same-day time.
A careful comb-through
We seat your child somewhere comfortable, section the hair, and work through it under bright light with a fine stainless-steel comb. Bring a book or a show — most kids barely notice.
The rest of the household
If one person has been exposed, it's worth checking everyone. It adds only a few minutes per head and takes the guesswork out of the week ahead.
A clear answer
We show you exactly what we found — or didn't. If treatment is needed, we can usually start right away. If not, you're done.

Plan on fifteen to thirty minutes per person — a little longer for very long or thick hair.
An honest comparison
Checking at home vs. having us look
Plenty of parents do their own checks, and we would never talk you out of trying. Here is what actually makes a professional check more reliable — none of it is complicated.
Why home checks miss things
- Household lighting is too soft. Early nits are tiny and translucent, and they sit close to the scalp — easy to miss without strong, direct light.
- The plastic combs in drugstore kits have teeth spaced too far apart to reliably trap young lice.
- Dandruff, hair casts, and product buildup look remarkably like nits. Telling them apart takes practice most parents never get the chance to build.
- Checking your own fidgety kid is stressful, and stress tends to cut checks short.
What we do differently
- We work under bright, direct light and go section by section, clip by clip, so no part of the scalp goes unseen.
- Stainless-steel combs with tightly spaced teeth catch lice at every stage, including ones too small to spot by eye.
- We've been checking heads daily since 2020 — enough practice to know what a nit is, and just as importantly, what it is not.
- You get a straight answer either way, with written documentation schools accept if you need it.
If a home check has left you unsure — in either direction — we are happy to take a look. A visit takes fifteen to thirty minutes per person, and if we find anything, we can usually treat it the same day.
Our commitments
What we stand behind
No fine print, no upsells. These are the things every family can count on, every visit.
A pesticide-free method
We remove lice and nits with a comb, not chemicals. That matters for young children, expectant mothers, and anyone with a sensitive scalp — and it means nothing to rinse out afterward.
Visits that fit real schedules
Same-day visits are usually available, and we work evenings and weekends across all five boroughs. If the school called this morning, we can often be at your door before dinner.
Experienced, careful specialists
We are insured, and we have helped more than five hundred families since 2020. Everyone who works with us is trained to identify lice at every stage and to keep kids at ease.
A real follow-up
Every treatment ends with written aftercare instructions so you know what to watch for in the days after. If school needs proof of treatment, we provide documentation nurses accept.
From our families
What parents tell us afterward
They came the same evening I called, checked all three kids, and only one needed treatment. No lecture, no upsell — just calm, clear help.
Our school sent my son home on a Friday. By Saturday morning he'd been treated, with paperwork the nurse accepted on Monday.
I'd already tried two drugstore kits before giving up and calling. One visit and the follow-up recheck, and we've been clear since.

What a visit costs
