For schools & daycares

School lice screenings in NYC

We set up in a quiet room, check each child in a few minutes, and leave your nurse's office with a written record for every head we looked at. Working with schools and daycares across the five boroughs since 2020.

For schools

Why schools bring us in

A screening is a small interruption that saves a much bigger one. Here is what it takes off your plate.

Fewer missed school days

Catching cases early keeps them from moving quietly through a classroom. Children stay in school, and parents are not fielding mid-day phone calls.

Less on the nurse’s office

During an outbreak, the nurse’s office fills up fast. We handle the checking so your staff can get back to the rest of their day.

A written record for every child

Each child screened gets a dated note of what we found — the paperwork nurses need for their files and for letters home.

Handled quietly

Children are checked one at a time, away from classmates. No announcements, no singling anyone out.

  • Insured and background-checked
  • Pesticide-free — stainless-steel combs and good light

The process

How a school screening works

The whole point is to keep the day moving. Teachers teach, children miss as little class as possible, and we work around your schedule.

01

A short call with your office

We talk through class sizes, timing, and where we can set up. Most screenings are scheduled within a few days; for an active outbreak we can usually come sooner.

02

We set up quietly

We arrive with everything we need — stainless-steel combs, magnifiers, a good lamp — and set up in whatever quiet room you can spare. The nurse’s office works fine.

03

Each child, a few minutes

Children come in one or two at a time while the class carries on. A careful check takes a few minutes per child, and nobody is discussed in front of anyone else.

04

Results and paperwork

Before we leave, the nurse has a dated record for every child screened and a quiet word about anything we found. We can help draft the note that goes home to parents.

For a sense of timing: a classroom of twenty-five to thirty children usually takes about an hour to an hour and a half, start to finish.

Working with schools

We know our way around a school morning

Since 2020 we have screened classrooms in dozens of schools and daycares across the five boroughs — public, private, charter, and early-childhood programs. Every building runs a little differently, and we fit into yours rather than the other way around.

What a screening morning looks like

We arrive before the first bell or right after drop-off, whichever suits you, and set up in the nurse’s office or a spare room. Classes send children down a few at a time — a teacher or aide walks them over, we check each head under a good lamp, and they head back to their desks. Most elementary schools are finished before lunch.

With daycares and preschools we slow down a little. Small children do better with a familiar adult nearby, so we ask a staff member to sit in, and we let the wiggly ones wiggle.

The documentation nurses need

Before we pack up, the nurse’s office has a dated screening record for every child we checked and a short summary for the administrator. If we find a case, we tell the nurse quietly and can call the family ourselves if the school prefers.

After a child is treated — by us or by anyone else we have checked — we provide the clearance documentation schools ask for before readmission, so nobody is stuck at home longer than they need to be.

Our commitments

What we stand behind

No fine print, no upsells. These are the things every family can count on, every visit.

A pesticide-free method

We remove lice and nits with a comb, not chemicals. That matters for young children, expectant mothers, and anyone with a sensitive scalp — and it means nothing to rinse out afterward.

Visits that fit real schedules

Same-day visits are usually available, and we work evenings and weekends across all five boroughs. If the school called this morning, we can often be at your door before dinner.

Experienced, careful specialists

We are insured, and we have helped more than five hundred families since 2020. Everyone who works with us is trained to identify lice at every stage and to keep kids at ease.

A real follow-up

Every treatment includes written aftercare instructions and a free recheck within ten days. If school needs proof of treatment, we provide documentation nurses accept.

From our families

What parents tell us afterward

They came the same evening I called, checked all three kids, and only one needed treatment. No lecture, no upsell — just calm, clear help.
Sarah M., Park Slope, Brooklyn
Our school sent my son home on a Friday. By Saturday morning he'd been treated, with paperwork the nurse accepted on Monday.
Michael R., Upper West Side, Manhattan
I'd already tried two drugstore kits before giving up and calling. One visit and the follow-up recheck, and we've been clear since.
Lisa K., Astoria, Queens
