Everyone measures hair a little differently. Rather than argue about inches, we use the three body landmarks below. This is what we mean when we ask about length on the phone.

Why pricing can change.
The three prices above cover the vast majority of visits we do. There are two reasons a number might land above them, and neither is a surprise at the door.
The first is a severe infestation. When there are hundreds of nits and live lice across several sections, the comb-out takes considerably longer than a standard case. We would rather price that time honestly than skim over sections in a hurry.
The second is hair that is unusually thick, very long, or extra-long. Waist length combed section by section is a different job than a jaw-length bob. We build the appointment around it and quote what it actually takes.
We tell you the number before we start, never at the end. If the price should go up once we are in the room, you hear it in the room, not on the invoice.

Head check for everyone at home
Before we treat anyone, we check every head in the household under a bright lamp. Often only one or two people actually need treatment.

Sectioning and preparation
Damp hair, sectioning clips, a folded towel. The setup takes a few minutes and makes the rest of the visit go faster.

The comb-out itself
Fine-toothed stainless-steel combs, pass after pass, until each section comes back clean. Pesticide-free, quiet, and calm enough that kids can watch a show.

A second look at the trouble spots
Behind the ears, at the nape, along the part line. These are the places nits cluster, and they are where we spend the extra time before we call the section done.

Plain-language aftercare
Before we leave, we tell you what to wash, what to skip, and what to watch for. The list is shorter than the internet suggests, because lice do not live long off the head.

If your school or camp needs proof of treatment, we leave you with paperwork nurses accept. We are glad to speak with the school nurse directly if a question comes up.

How an in-home visit works.

A short phone call
Tell us who needs a check, roughly how long their hair is, and where you are. We give you an honest arrival window and a flat quote before we book anything.

We drive to your home
Same-day visits are usually available across all five boroughs. We come in without a lot of gear, so nobody in the building needs to know why we are there.

The visit at your kitchen table
Two to four hours is typical for a family, less for one person with short hair. Nothing sprayed, nothing rinsed, nothing that lingers in the room after we leave.

Payment and aftercare
We take card or cash at the door. You get written aftercare and, if you need it, documentation to bring back to school the next morning.

What families ask us about the number.
Is there a minimum charge per visit?
Yes. Every visit has a $150 minimum. If your line items add up to less than $150 (for example, one or two standalone head checks at $50 each), the total is $150. Once you cross $150 in services, the minimum stops mattering and you simply pay the line items.
Is the price per person or per household?
Per person. Head checks are $50 per person. Treatment is priced by hair length. When we come out for a treatment visit, we do a head check on everyone at home as part of that appointment, so heads we check during a treatment visit are not billed separately.
When is the $50 head check charged versus included?
A standalone head check appointment is $50 per person. If you already know there is a case and are booking treatment, the check for other people in the home comes with the treatment visit at no extra charge. If you are not sure whether anyone has lice yet, book the check.
What counts as short, medium, or long?
Short is ear-level or higher, including pixies and buzz cuts. Medium runs from the jaw to the collarbones, including bobs, lobs, and chin-length cuts. Long is anything past the collarbones, from shoulder-grazing to waist-length. If you are unsure, describe it on the phone and we will tell you which tier applies.
When would the price go higher than what is listed?
Severe infestations, or very thick, long, or extra-long hair, may be subject to additional fees. We tell you before we start, never at the end. The extra time is because the comb-out itself takes longer, not because the visit fee changes.
Do you charge extra for same-day visits?
No. The flat price is the same whether we come the day you call or later in the week. We do not add rush fees, weekend fees, or trip fees for any borough.
How do you take payment?
Card or cash at the end of the visit. We do not take payment before the appointment, and we confirm the total with you before we begin.
What if only some of the household needs treatment?
That is common, and it is the honest answer more than half the time. We check everyone, then treat only the people who actually have lice or nits. Nobody is billed for a treatment they did not need.
