Checks usually take twenty to thirty minutes per person. If you have more than one child, we'll check everyone while we're there — it's the most reliable way to keep lice from circling back through the household.
In Queens
Queens visits are usually houses — two-family homes with their own upstairs entrance, or garden apartments in the low-rise complexes around Forest Hills and Jackson Heights. There is normally a driveway, a kitchen table, and enough space to see more than one child in the same sitting, which is how we prefer to work anyway.
In a two-family house we would rather check both floors while we are there. Lice travel easily between households sharing a stairwell, and checking the second family takes minutes compared with treating them two weeks later.
