Preventionthe Bronx

Lice prevention for the Bronx families

After an infestation — or before one — we show your family how to check, how to comb, and which habits keep lice from coming back.

Same-day visits are usually available — often at your door within a couple of hours.

What to expect

What a prevention visit covers

Most repeat infestations happen because one nit was missed or a sibling was never checked. A prevention visit closes those gaps.

  • A hands-on lesson in sectioning and combing hair properly
  • What nits actually look like — and what's just dandruff or lint
  • Simple weekly habits that lower the odds of another round
  • Recommendations for combs and products that actually help
  • Arrival windows that account for the Deegan and the Cross Bronx

There's no way to make a child lice-proof, and we won't pretend otherwise. But families who check weekly almost always catch cases early, when they're easiest to clear.

In the Bronx

Bronx appointments are mostly apartments: a kitchen table, a chair carried in from another room, and the lamp we bring. In the older buildings along the Concourse the windows are generous enough that we barely need it. Out toward Throggs Neck and City Island the homes are houses, and we set up in the kitchen with room to walk around the chair.

Prevention visits in the Bronx are usually booked after a case has already been through a family once. We start with what got missed the first time, which is nearly always a sibling nobody checked.

How it works

What a visit looks like

01

A family consultation

We talk through your household's situation — a school outbreak, camp season, a recent infestation — and what to watch for in the Bronx.

02

Hands-on training

We teach whoever does hair in your house how to section, comb, and actually recognize what they are looking at.

03

Tools worth having

We'll show you which combs and products earn their keep, and which are mostly marketing.

04

Ongoing support

Questions weeks later? Call us. A short phone conversation often saves a family a full visit.

Same-day visits are usually available in the Bronx. Call (347) 901-5247 or request a visit and we’ll call you back.

Who comes to your home

The people behind the combs

You’re letting someone into your home in the Bronx, often on a stressful day. Here’s what you can count on about whoever we send.

Insured and background-checked

The practice carries professional liability insurance, and everyone we send has passed a background check. We're glad to show proof of either before you book.

Background-checked

Everyone we send into a family's home has passed a background check. No exceptions, including during busy outbreak weeks.

Trained before they work alone

Every specialist trains with our lead on detection, comb technique, and how to keep a restless six-year-old comfortable in a chair.

Experienced with this, specifically

Head lice are all we do. We've been making in-home visits since 2020, and there isn't much we haven't seen at a kitchen table.

What Bronx parents told us afterward

A few notes from families who booked prevention with us.

After our second round of lice in a year, they taught me how to do a proper weekly comb check at the kitchen table. We haven't had a surprise since.
Hannah B., Bronx
Practical advice, not a product pitch. Braids for camp, a real comb, and what actually spreads lice versus what doesn't.

What parents tell us afterward

They came the same evening I called, checked all three kids, and only one needed treatment. No lecture, no upsell — just calm, clear help.
Sarah M., Park Slope, Brooklyn
Our school sent my son home on a Friday. By Saturday morning he'd been treated, with paperwork the nurse accepted on Monday.
Michael R., Upper West Side, Manhattan
I'd already tried two drugstore kits before giving up and calling. One visit and the follow-up recheck, and we've been clear since.
